SOTA Year 3 Visual Arts student clinches 3rd Prize in Reflection Youth Photo Competition

SOTA Year 3 Visual Arts student Janel Ang recently clinched the 3rd Prize in the Reflection Youth Photo Competition, organised by the South Zone Excellence Centre for Design in collaboration with the National Geographic Store, Singapore. Janel’s entry was chosen among 2,255 entries from 94 secondary and integrated programme schools.

Based on the theme of ‘Reflections’, Janel submitted her picture of tourists’ reflections in the Cloud Gate sculpture (commonly known as  “The Bean” because of its legume shape) in Chicago’s Millenium Park. She titled her picture ‘Warped Reflections’ and in her words, ”This picture reflects a community of tourists beneath a giant sculpture as they are encapsulated in the metal form. The scarlet signifies life; how the animate and inanimate can complement each other and how movement can inject life into the lifeless, moulding a settled smooth template into a warped one”.
