Sir Andrew Motion’s Sharing Session at SOTA on 22 October 2011

The Year 5 cohort and top 20 Year 4 literature students of SOTA were treated to an intimate session with Sir Andrew Motion, UK's former Poet Laureate on 22 October 2011.

Sir Andrew Motion is an English poet, novelist, biographer, and professor of creative writing at Royal Holloway. A fellow of the Royal Society of Literature, he was knighted in 2009 and has served as UK’s poet laureate from 1999 to 2009. His poetry has won many prestigious awards and accolades.

During the sharing session, Sir Andrew read several of his poems and shared many insights into his writing. SOTA students were given the opportunity to ask him questions; among various questions, they asked about the role of the poet in contemporary society and the influence(s) of other art forms on Sir Andrew's poetry.

This was truly an invigoration and eye-opening session for SOTA students. We would like to thank Sir Andrew Motion and the British Council for making this possible.
