Prime Minister's Valedictorian Award for SOTA
The Prime Minister's Valedictorian Award will be presented to the top School of the Arts (SOTA) graduate of each cohort from 2013 onwards. Minister for Information, Communications and the Arts Dr Yaacob Ibrahim declared the inception of the award at SOTA Awards Day on Thursday evening.
The award will be given out to a deserving graduate who has demonstrated all-round excellence in the academic disciplines, the arts, leadership and service to the community, throughout his or her six years of education in SOTA.

The variety and quality of arts education have grown with the infusion of government grants and subsidies. At the School of the Arts, the only independent school for 13-to-18-year-olds specialising in the visual and performing arts, attendance is over-subscribed fivefold. It has 200 places for students every year but received more than 1,000 applicants in the last four years.
