Lee Mun Wai began his dance training at LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore, where he graduated with a diploma in 2006. In 2008, under full scholarship, he earned himself a Bachelors degree in Fine Arts (Honours) in contemporary dance at the prestigious Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts.

During his studies, Mun Wai danced in works by both local and foreign choreographers including Robert Tannion, Cheng Tsung-Lung, Natalie Weir, Dong Jie, Mui Cheuk-Yin, John Utans, Raewyn Hill, Maxine Heppner, Ricky Sim and Tammy L. Wong. Keen on honing his choreographic skills, Mun Wai also initiated various student projects including INCUBE, a platform for young student choreographers.

Apart from being a part-time member of the SOTA Faculty of Dance, Mun Wai is also a dancer and founding member of T.H.E (The Human Expression) Dance Company led by Kuik Swee Boon, recipient of the Singapore National Arts Council Young Artist Award in 2007. To date, Mun Wai has performed two works with the company, both choreographed by Swee Boon; Old Sounds, a multi-media dance work in September 2008 and Silence in October 2007 at the Esplanade’s da:ns Festival.
