
Leonard Ong graduated from the National University of Singapore in 1995 with a Bachelor of Arts (Merit), majoring in History and Sociology. He went on to pursue a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (Physical Education and History) and subsequently completed a Masters in Science (Exercise and Sports Studies) at the National Institute of Education, Singapore.
Leonard has more than ten years of experience in education and has taught in Saint Andrew’s Junior College where he was the Sports Secretary and in Westwood Secondary School where he headed the Character Development Program. In addition, he also had an invaluable stint in Schools Division, Ministry of Education, as a Special Assistant.
Leonard is an avid sportsman with a strong passion for soccer and rugby. He has represented Singapore in rugby at various tournaments and test matches, and was also the National Under-19 Youth Coach as well as the Combined Schools Coach for several years. He continues to play competitive and social soccer, turning out regularly for his team Casuals FC in the Cosmo-league and for the Lions of Singapore Cricket Club.
Being a passionate sportsperson, Leonard is a firm believer that experiential education through physical education, sports or other rugged activities will lead students on a journey of character building and self-discovery which will stand them in good stead for life.
