
Jasmine Tan received her B.A., B.A. (Honours) in English Literature and M.A. (English Studies) from the National University of Singapore (NUS). In the third year of her B.A. course, she won the Singapore Dental Association Book Prize for being the Best Student in English Language. A Public Service Commission (PSC) scholar, Jasmine then went on to attain her Postgraduate Diploma in Education at the National Institute of Education (NIE), achieving a distinction in Practicum.
Prior to joining SOTA, Jasmine was a General Paper and English Literature teacher at Catholic Junior College. She became the Subject Head of its English Department from 1998 to 2001 and the Subject Head of Media Resources and Library from 2003 to 2007.
Jasmine has been interested in the arts since primary school, particularly in the areas of music and Literature. During her university days, she won the NUS Talentime as a solo vocalist in her first year and the title of Best Vocalist in a competition of international university bands in Tokyo. She also received a Cultural Achievement Award from her hall of residence at NUS for her work in the arts around campus. As a vocalist, Jasmine has recorded with artistes such as Dick Lee and MediaCorp artistes. Jasmine has a deep and abiding passion for English Literature and hopes to share this passion with SOTA students.
