Mark Tan majored in English Literature and Theatre Studies at the National University of Singapore, enjoying an exchange stint at Lancaster University, and graduating with honours.  Having had over 5 years of experience as a Literature teacher and drama coach at junior college, Mark has spearheaded many projects, including an adaptation of Shakespeare’s Othello at The Substation and performance poetry events at library@esplanade.

Mark has delivered Ministry of Education (MOE) seminar presentations on the design of drama-based assessment for Literature and the incorporation of film, art and music into Literature teaching.  In 2006 and 2007, he was invited to join a team to share on teaching strategies at the National Institute of Education’s induction programme for beginning teachers.

Keen on sharing his passion for Literature and the arts, Mark has worked extensively with youths in devising, scripting and directing various independent projects.  In 2008, he wrote and directed his first short film.
