
Chia Ming Huei received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) degree in Chinese from Malaya University, Malaysia in 2000 and Diploma in Education from National Institute of Education, Singapore in 2004. Currently she is pursuing her Masters in Education, specialising in Chinese Teaching, with National Institute of Education, Singapore.
Prior to joining School of the Arts Singapore, Ming Huei taught in Raffles Girls' School (Secondary) since 2005. She was appointed coordinator for the Chinese (Special Programme) in 2005 and 2006 during which she spearheaded an in-house third language programme to students who did not take up Chinese as their mother tongue. In 2007, she also offered a Conversational Mandarin Course to the Year One cohort during the school’s Learning Journey Week.
Besides teaching, Ming Huei also participated actively in the design and publishing of teaching materials with the Ministry of Education (MOE) CPDD Working Group Committee for Conversational Mandarin Programme in 2007. Currently, she is a committee member of MOE CPDD Working Group Committee for HCL.
In Raffles Girls' School (Secondary), Ming Huei was actively involved in the Service-Learning programme. She was appointed as the Raffles Outreach (Service-Learning) Coordinator from 2006-2007. She was also a teacher in charge of the Overseas Service Learning (Cambodia) in 2007 & 2008.
Ming Huei is a trained Future Problem Solving coach since 2007. She has been mentoring various community-based projects over the years. Recently, one of her Community Problem Solving teams has emerged third place in the Singapore National CMPS Finals 2009.
