Lim Jong Yann was awarded the Public Service Commission Scholarship (Teaching) and subsequently graduated with Honours (Second Upper) from the National University of Singapore (NUS), majoring in Chinese Language and Chinese Studies. She then went on to obtain her Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Nanyang Technological University (NTU) before getting certified by Mind Transformation as a practitioner of Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP).

Before joining SOTA, Jong Yann was Subject Head of Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) at Nanyang Junior College. It was a large portfolio requiring her to plan, strategise and oversee the development and day-to-day running of all the school’s CCA programmes.

Of note was her contribution as Head of the Aesthetics Committee which saw her charting the college’s ARTS programme to inculcate a greater appreciation for the arts in the students.

Jong Yann is also a strong advocate of mental skills. She co-designed and piloted a college-wide mental skills programme targeting at coaching students to help them achieve peak performance in both the cognitive and physical domains. She was also an integral member of the Student Leadership Committee and was actively involved in creating opportunities and platforms for student leaders to develop their potential.

Effectively bilingual, Jong Yann has a deep passion for the arts, especially in singing and dancing. She is also experienced in stage management due to her active involvement in managing major school events.

Jong Yann believes that language is a powerful tool in shaping one’s cognitive ability and perception of the world.
