Lee Ming Ying is a graduate with distinctions from the National Technological University Master of Arts (Applied Psychology) Programme. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology and History (merit) from the National University of Singapore. Thereafter, she attained a Post-Graduate Diploma in Secondary Education with credit, specializing in the teaching of English and History, from the National Institute of Education.
Prior to becoming an Educational Psychologist in SOTA, Ming Ying taught in a mainstream Secondary School. As a level coordinator and a teacher counsellor, she helped to counsel students with personal and academic challenges. She was also involved in student development and leadership as the officer-in-charge of the National Police Cadet Corps (NPCC) Unit in her school. To expand her knowledge of the learning spectrum, Ming Ying joined Pathlight, a school for autistic students as a Special Needs Teacher. She also worked closely with young children and their parents as an interned psychologist at the YMCA Child Development Centre.
Ming Ying played the trombone and the Chinese flute in her student days. She strongly believes in developing each child to their fullest potential. In her free time, she reads up on the latest educational research and engages in community outreach programmes such as mentoring teenagers on probation order, giving free tuition to children of ex-prisoners and volunteering at the Dover Park Hospice.
