Sia Joo Hiang was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology, Australia in 2005. She was the recipient of the 17th JCCI Singapore Foundation Arts Award in 2006, and her painting won the highly-commended title in the 14th UOB Painting of the Year. She has exhibited in Singapore, Malaysia, Australia and London. Her works can be found in private and public collections in Singapore and London.
Although specialised in painting, she has a deep passion for all forms of art, and has collaborated with artists from other disciplines. Her first set of illustrated books is a collaborative effort with a group of local artists, writers and musicians. She has also written, designed and published many books, among them books for children and books of paintings. She is currently venturing into making her first animated short film.
Her passion for drawing and painting, and her energy as a teacher has made her a top choice from the years 2008-2010 for conducting Life Drawing workshops at United World College (UWC), jointly organised by UWC and LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore.
