Toh Hun Ping graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Video Art (1st Class Honours) in 2006, conferred by The Open University, via LASALLE College of the Arts, Singapore. Previously, he studied architecture at the National University of Singapore for two years before leaving to pursue his undergraduate studies in video art instead.
Prior to joining SOTA, he has taught multimedia arts courses in various tertiary institutions in Singapore − LASALLE College of the Arts, Republic Polytechnic and Nanyang Technological University School of Art, Design & Media. The various courses he has planned and conducted include experimental video & video art, history of experimental film, time-based media foundation workshops and digital imaging.
Besides teaching, he has continually sustained a video art and experimental filmmaking practice. His works are created mostly single-handedly, merging traditional fine art techniques with new media technologies. His video and film works have also been exhibited and screened internationally in both art galleries and film festivals at North America, France, Japan, Greece, Israel, Macau and Singapore. His latest work was in competition at the 12th Paris Festival of Different and Experimental Cinema in 2010. He is currently working on a solo exhibition in Taipei in 2011.
