Mei Ching graduated from the Nanyang Technological University of Singapore with a Bachelor’s degree in Business. She began her career in food franchising, conference & event management, before moving on to direct-to-consumer marketing. Over the years, she held positions as the Country Manager as well as the General Manager. Her roles saw her expand her companies’ business interests internationally. She led her companies in their foray to Asia markets such as China, Japan, Hong Kong, Korea and Taiwan, and oversaw their developments in Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and the Philippines.

Fueled by her desire to make meaningful contribution to the society by tapping on her professional experience, Mei Ching joined the education sector as a Vice-Principal (Administration) in a Ministry of Education school in 2011. She joined SOTA in 2013 to lead the school’s corporate planning and administration functions which include Finance, Human Resources, Corporate Communications, Venue operations and others. She is also a regular participant in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Asia-Pacific Conference at which school leaders in the region come together to learn from each other and to share information about changes and developments within the IB fraternity and international education practices.

Beyond her work, Mei Ching believes in living life to the fullest. She has a penchant for adventure and going beyond her comfort zone. She completed a 42km marathon at the age of 42, and scaled the peak of Mount Kinabalu with her staff members, encouraging them to challenge themselves and to go beyond their comfort zones. She also went on a 10-day overseas service learning trip with SOTA students to a village in Vietnam where they worked closely with the villagers to help improve their village’s tourism capability.

Mei Ching appreciates the diversity in SOTA as it brings about different points of view, opinions and experiences and creates a very dynamic environment where creativity and innovation thrive.
