Yongkai graduated from Beijing Normal University with a Bachelor of Arts in Chinese Language and Literature and obtained a Master of Business Administration from Shanghai Jiao Tong University in 2011.
Yongkai was a Mother Tongue Language teacher at Woodlands Ring Secondary School for seven years. In addition, he has nine years of experience teaching Mandarin and Language B (Mandarin) in International Schools, including the Overseas Family School and Singapore French School. As such, he is familiar with the Mandarin syllabus of both the International Baccalaureate and French Baccalauréat (BAC) programmes. He is also versed in the Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK), having been an Examination Coordinator for 6 years. Yongkai has taken learning out of the classroom by organising language learning trips to various cities in China.
Yongkai's interest in the arts was kindled when he started learning Chinese calligraphy in primary school. His works have gained recognition today, winning various calligraphy awards in China. He also has passion for photography and his works have been featured in local media, including Lianhe Zaobao.
