A recipient of the MOE Teaching Scholarship, Jane Foo holds a Bachelor of Music (First Class Honours) from King’s College London and a Master of Arts in Popular Music Research from Goldsmiths, University of London. Her main musicological interest is in expression and meaning in music from a socio-cultural perspective.
Since returning to Singapore in 2014, Jane has taught Music and English in secondary schools and enjoys the challenge of mentoring youth from various backgrounds. As an educator, she is passionate about how the arts help people to connect with each other and connect within ourselves.
Inspired by her experiences in university and Opera Da Camera East Anglian Summer School for singers, Jane has played for youth opera rehearsals, school gospel choirs and corporate choirs in London. In Singapore, she continues freelance piano accompaniment such as for Sing’theatre's open mics and workshops. She is especially grateful to her piano teachers at the Royal Academy of Music, Li Bing Bing and Tomáš Klement .
Music aside, Jane loves reading dystopian fiction and is also a qualified yoga teacher.
