Yap Kheng Kin
Faculty of Visual Arts Kheng Kin graduated with a degree in Architecture from the National University of Singapore in 1997. He practised as an architect before starting on his teaching career. He obtained a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Distinction) for the teaching of art at National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore, in 2000. He completed a Masters of Visual Art (by Research, Painting) at Sydney College of the Arts, University of Sydney, Australia in 2006.
Kheng Kin has seven years of experience teaching art in both private and public schools. He has presented at art education seminars and published papers in art research, notably for the AHCCA Postgraduate Association Conference, University of Melbourne, in 2004, and East Zone Action Research Symposium 2008.
As an artist, Kheng Kin has exhibited in Singapore and Sydney, including a group show held at Forth Gallery, Singapore, in May 2009. He was a finalist for Singapore’s inaugural STAMP Postbox Painting Competition in 2007, and received runner-up awards for Singapore Land Transport Authority’s Integrated Art Design Installation (Phase 1) in 2008 and Istana Art Competition in 2009.
