Job Description 

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the incumbent has full responsibility for the complete spectrum of duties in financial system operations, transaction processing, statutory reporting, management reporting, direct and indirect taxation, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls and regulatory audit processes of the assigned accounting function.

 The incumbent is responsible for the smooth operations of daily operational accounting, financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standards and in compliance with all other statutory requirements.

Major Responsibility:

Account Payable:

  1. Transaction Processing
    • Processing and accounting of all trade liabilities and payables
    • Processing and accounting of withholding taxes
    • Prepare / Review monthly payments run documents
    • Liaise with bankers
    • Upload payment file to bank platform
    • Review / Compute means testing for student financial schemes
    • Assess applications for student financial assistance schemes and propose appropriate packages

  2. Financial Reporting
    • Ensure timely and accurate monthly closing
    • Prepare and submit S45 withholding tax returns

  3. Budgeting and Forecasting

  4. Audit Process
    • Prepare audit schedules for all trade liabilities, payables and accruals

  5. Sub-Committee Meetings
    • Prepare Standard Operating Procedures and Papers
    • Minute taker for Sub-Committee meeting as assigned

  6. Governance and Internal Controls
    • Ensure procurement transactions and documents are approved in accordance of authorized limits, and procurement policies
    • Make continuous improvements to systems and processes​

Accounting Projects, Papers and Policies

  • Establish clear guidelines and standard operating procedures for proper accounting
  • Make improvements to current systems and processes to ensure good system and process workflow
  • Hands-on role in formulating, reviewing and implementing financial policies, procedures, internal controls and systems to support the execution of the School’s strategic operations


  • Participate in school-wide events and key activities, at times outside normal office hours
  • Participate in Task Forces
  • Other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer, or Management of the School

Job Requirement (Education, Experience and Knowledge/Skills)

Qualification & Training

  • Degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional accreditation
  • Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant accreditation is desired


  • 3-4 years of relevant working experience
  • Prior working experience as an auditor will be a plus
  • Prior working experience in a non-profit organization will be a plus


  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • Experience in SAP or equivalent ERP applications
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint
  • Good business writing skills
