SOTA: School of the Arts Singapore

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the incumbent has full responsibility for the complete spectrum of duties in financial system operations, transaction processing, statutory reporting, management reporting, direct and indirect taxation, budgeting and forecasting, internal controls and regulatory audit processes of the assigned accounting function. 

The incumbent is responsible for the smooth operations of daily operational accounting, financial records are maintained accurately and in accordance with the Financial Reporting Standards and in compliance with all other statutory requirements.

Job Responsibilities:

Transaction Processing

  • Venue invoicing system (EBMS) subject expert

  • Invoicing/collection of venue sales

  • Invoicing/collection of school fees / retail / others

  • Processing and accounting of capital expenditure and accounting of minor assets

  • Coordinate MCCY development funding or equivalent papers

  • Accounting of interest income

  • Maintain fixed asset master

  • Maintain vendor master

  • Assessment impairment provision for receivables

  • Accounting of donations

  • Placement of fixed deposits

Financial Reporting​​

  • Prepare GST returns

  • Ensure timely monthly closing of assigned accounts

  • Prepare fixed deposit listing and interest earned


  • Budgeting and Forecasting 

    • Budget process owner for capital expenditure and minor assets

    Audit Process

    • Prepare audit schedules for capital expenditure and venue receivables

    • Prepare audit schedule for impairment provision for receivables

    Sub-Committee Meetings

    • Prepare annual CAPEX Budget Papers

    • Minute taker for Sub-Committee meetings as assigned

    • Prepare Standard Operating Procedures and Papers

    Governance and Internal Controls

    • Coordinate annual fixed asset and minor asset sighting 

    • Make continuous improvements to systems and processes

    Accounting Projects, Papers and Policies

    • Establish clear guidelines and standard operating procedures for proper accounting

    • Make improvements to current systems and processes to ensure good system and process workflow

    • Hands-on role in formulating, reviewing and implementing financial policies, procedures, internal controls and systems to support the execution of the School’s strategic operations

    Others

    • Participate in school-wide events and key activities, at times outside normal office hour

    • Participate in Task Forces

    • Other duties as assigned by Reporting Officer, or Management of the School


     Job Requirements:

    Qualification & Training

    ●      Degree in Accountancy or equivalent professional accreditation

    ●      Chartered Accountant or Certified Public Accountant accreditation is desired

    Experience

    ●      3-4 years of relevant working experience

    ●      Prior working experience as an auditor will be a plus

    ●      Prior working experience in a non-profit organization will be a plus 

    Skills

    ●      Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    ●      Good interpersonal communication skills

    ●      Strong team player

    ●      Experience in SAP or equivalent ERP applications

    ●      Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint

    ●      Good business writing skills
