SOTA Music alumna Koh Cheng Jin composed a piece for a violin-piano duo recital entitled “Dichterleben: A Poet’s Life”. Cheng Jin’s composition "Ti - Improvisation for Violin and Piano” is inspired by a poem written by her best friend and fellow Music alumna, Sun Pingyu. Entitled "Ti (替)", the poem is about a tree that lives, dies, and lives again, which corresponds to the concert’s theme of life, death, and transcendence.

The concert premiered in Singapore on 21 August 2016 at the Victoria Concert Hall, by two United States-based musicians, Churen Li (Yale) and Yang Shuxiang (New England Conservatory).

Presently, Cheng Jin is studying music composition at The Juilliard School in the United States, while Pingyu is majoring in Chinese studies in the National University of Singapore.
