SOTA Alumni featured in National Day Celebrations 2018

Noticed familiar faces on TV during National Day? The SOTA community had a pleasant surprise when some of us spotted our alumni on screen.

The Drive Home

Theatre alumnus Kai Sean Sundermann was cast as one of the lead actors in Singtel’s National Day ad, ‘The Drive Home’, which was screened on Singtel TV, social media and various websites in August. The six-minute film showed the relationship between a Singaporean grandfather and his teenage grandson, who grew up in Australia, and aimed to encourage Singaporeans to celebrate family and the shared histories that make Singapore home. Watch Kai in the heartwarming video below!

NDP 2018 Show Film

Another Theatre alumna Rebecca Ashley Dass was featured in the National Day Parade 2018 Show Film directed by award-winning director Boo Junfeng. The 10-minute film tells the real-life story of five Singaporeans who overcame adversity in their lives. Rebecca played Madam Mary Klass in her teenage years. Madam Klass won a silver medal at the Asian Games in 1954, and represented Singapore at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. She had no family support nor a coach, yet she continued to pursue her dream to represent Singapore in athletics.

We are proud that Rebecca could play the role of an inspirational local pioneer!

If you missed the film during National Day Parade, spot Rebecca in the trailer below!
