To support the migrant worker community in Singapore during these difficult COVID-19 (Coronavirus 2019) times, our SOTA alumni leveraged on the arts to make a difference! In partnership with the non-profit organisation, Humanitarian Organisation for Migration Economics (HOME), 15 SOTA alumni from Classes of 2016 to 2019 came together to raise funds through Project Postcard. In this initiative led by Class of 2018 Theatre alumnus Russell Chong, the team donated more than 10 of their original artworks and adapted the art pieces into postcards for sale. The proceeds went directly to supporting the immediate relief efforts undertaken by HOME, such as providing daily essentials and emergency medical aid. To support migrant workers' emotional needs, our alumni thoughtfully distributed postcards and provided postage for migrant workers to write home and reconnect with their families using a small portion of the proceeds.
We are heartened to see our alumni using their talents and the arts to contribute to the community - truly cultural leaders in the making!
