SOTA alumni were part of the line-up for the Esplanade's Baybeats festival this year! In the online edition, Class of 2013 Music alumnus Bennett Bay collaborated with musician PIBLOKTO (Alexius Cai) in a live streamed unplugged performance. Bennett and PIBLOKTO had worked together back in 2017 for Esplanade’s A.I.R.T.I.M.E. This year, they performed three songs specially re-crafted for two acoustic guitars and the oboe; a re-imagining of PIBLOKTO’s Tidal Pools, a rearrangement of Bennett's guitar duet Windy, as well as a special song that they have written together. Bennett took the stage again with fellow alumni Daniel Lim (Visual Arts, 2013) and Ian Tan (Visual Arts, 2013) as the band, hauste. The trio performed both old and new songs, such as fan favourites Leavings and Apple, as well as new singles off their upcoming album in Nara and Panda.

Known as the biggest free alternative music festival in Singapore and the region, Baybeats is an annual event that presents a fist-pumping line-up of prominent Singapore and international acts, covering genres including folk, pop, R&B, hip hop, metal, post-rock, emo, punk, electro and everything in between. Presented by Esplanade, the 19th edition of Baybeats features both an online edition and live festival in August and November 2020 respectively.
