“Sensing States : Healing Spaces" exhibition
Visual Arts Faculty member Ms Zen Teh's solo exhibition, "Sensing States: Healing Spaces" was held at the Art Science Museum, Marina Bay Sands from 10 to 27 October 2015.
"Sensing States: Healing Spaces" is a three-part exhibition experience. Through extraction and reconstruction of natural elements, the project aims to contextualise nature in relation to Singapore as an urban environment. In particular, a desire towards an unspoilt environment is alliterated with the notion of nature's healing properties. The three sections of the exhibition explore the therapeutic effects of nature, the pharmaceutical application of plant extract and herbal usages in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Holistically they re-consider our interaction with the environment. Visitors are invited to experience the intangible, the transcendence, and to re-establish their connection with nature.
The project is commissioned by The Substation and Ms Teh describes it as the "most experimental and ambitious project I have embarked on so far". The exhibition also marks the beginning of her interest and exploration in the realm of science.
