Rainbow Chairity
Lim Chyn with her two students and their chair, "Chair-ished Memories"
Mrs Lee-Lim Chyn from the Faculty of Science recently participated in Rainbow Chairity, a meaningful initiative that brought together students from the Rainbow Centre and artists to create unique artworks on child-sized Louis chairs.
This process of creative exploration and exchange allows the artist and the student to take a step into each other’s world and among them are children with autism, cerebral palsy, epilepsy, intellectual disability, visual and hearing impairment and global development delay. The final art pieces exemplify the dream of greater empowerment and inclusion for children with special needs. Rainbow Chairity is also held to raise funds for Rainbow Centre’s new extension wing at the current Margaret Drive campus.
Chyn is a folk art painter and her artwork, aptly named “Chair-ished Memories”, portrays a nostalgic scene between the elegant folds of a set of green Peranakan-themed curtains. The scene is inspired by the innocence of children in Rainbow Centre and the chair was pledged by Ms Denise Phua, Member of Parliament and Mayor of Central Singapore CDC.
