The SOTA team made a clean sweep in all three categories of this year's National Air Race Championships. Up against strong teams from other schools, the students from SOTA topped the Open Category, the Girls' Category, and even the Individual Category. On this rare feat in the history of this competition, the organiser complimented the students, "both your Open and Girls' teams were truly impressive in executing a flawless race throughout, right from their calculations to navigation to flying. And their amazing teamwork as well."

The winners are:

Open Category - Gold
Ansh Pundeer, Year 4
Lai Mun Hei, Year 4
Mak Yau Wai, Year 4

Girls' Category - Gold
Eda Chua, Year 4
Elva Sim, Year 4
Giselle Sim, Year 4

Individual Category - Gold
Mak Yau Wai, Year 4

Earlier in February, the students attended a three-day TOP Gun Aviator Science Programme for Secondary Schools where they learned to use a computer programme to simulate the flying of a plane. They applied Science and Mathematics concepts to manoeuvre their aircraft and to achieve their objectives. Prior to the competition, the students had only one joint training in June to prepare for the competition and familiarise themselves with the venue.

Congratulations to all winners on this huge achievement! Special thanks to Mr Yap Yit Siang and the Science faculty for their guidance and support as well.
