Learning from Arts Practitioners

As part of the year-end Borderless Learning Units programme, Year 3 students had the opportunity to learn from international arts practitioners. For instance, the Year 3 Dance students benefited from dance workshops with Kim Soo Youn from Korea and Herbert Alvarez from the Philippines.

In a workshop by Ms Lyn Hanis Rezuan, Year 3 Music students were taught how to produce sounds in different rhythms and tempi using their bodies as percussion instruments. They were also introduced to the Saman dance (Ratoeh Jaroe), one of the oldest and most treasured folk art forms in Aceh, Indonesia. On the final day of the workshop, the students presented what they had learnt in a performance to the school community.
