The Borderless Learning Units (BLU) programme is an annual feature at SOTA, broken into segments throughout the year, during which students take part in learner-centred and out-of-classroom activities. The activities also help to develop the desired character traits and dispositions of a SOTA IB Learner in the students.
In BLU II (27 to 31 May 2019), our students participated in activities such as first aid workshops, coding and robotics workshops, kayak expeditions and learning journeys to farms and museums.
In the BLU activity organised by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, our Year 3 students had the opportunity to explore issues pertaining to the sustainability of Singapore. They looked into issues such as inclusivity, heritage preservation, economic growth and its threat on sustainability, as well as urban planning. Besides attending talks and going on field trips to urban farms and museums, the students also attended Design Thinking workshops and worked on a project challenge.
We hope that our students found many enriching takeaways from all the BLU activities!
