
Michael Wang is a graduate of the Florida State Film Conservatory where he earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Motion Picture, Television and the Recording Arts, graduating Summa Cum Laude with Honours in Film. Since graduation, Michael has worked for the likes of Davien Littlefield Talent Mangement in New York, DDA Public Relations in Venice and French documentarian Pauline Cohen in Paris. In September 2007, Michael returned to Singapore to begin pre-production on his first feature film, The Carrot Cake Conversations, which was released in local theatres in November 2008. From the time he scribbled his first thought onto a piece of paper till film distribution, Michael spent approximately four years working on this project.
Michael frequently collaborates with fashion show producer, Daniel Boey on creating video installations for his fashion shows. Michael's short film work, his video installations and his feature has been showcased in territories across the globe, from the Bear Tooth Theatre in Alaska to the fashion runways in Milan. Michael has also been invited to speak at Singapore’s Ngee Ann Polytechnic, New Mexico State University, University of Pennsylvania, and at other film conferences. In May 2008, he was awarded The Martell Rising Personality Award by Martell Singapore, in recognition of his artistic achievement.
Michael believes an understanding of film literacy is essential for any arts education and looks forward to discussing the beauty of film with his students.
