Eugene received his Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Honours) from Nanyang Technological University and his Post Graduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education.
Prior to joining SOTA, Eugene taught Physics at St Andrew’s Junior College from 2000 to 2008. Apart from his experience in teaching graduating classes, he held the appointment of Subject Head for Physics and subsequently the Head of Department for Special Programmes. In 2001, St Andrew’s Junior College awarded the Outstanding Contribution Award (Individual) to Eugene in recognition of his contributions to the college.
Back in his school days, Eugene was a violinist in the Temasek Junior College Chamber Ensemble and was awarded the Singapore Youth Festival Competition Distinction Award in 1991. Being once a musician, Eugene keenly seeks opportunities in leveraging on the Arts to bring about better learning of Science.
