In collaboration with the Dunman High School Senior Band, SOTA presents Where the Sky Meets the Sea! It explores the theme of ‘blue’, the colour of the sky and sea, while also examining a myriad of alternative diverse connotations. From Gershwin's extravagant Rhapsody in Blue, to Reineke's expressive Where Eagles Soar and Brahm's homely 3rd Hungarian Dance, the programme presents beauty in the grand and extraordinary, and in our everyday lives. Derived from Tristan Tzara's Dadaist poem method, Epoch Dream implies a yearning towards the unknown. Featuring works by our Year 6 IBCP Visual Arts students, this exhibition highlights the varied explorations of each artist on themes of identity, experience, chance and encountering the surreal. Experimenting across painting, sculpture, installation and other media, Epoch Dream invites the audience to navigate the uncertainties of our zeitgeist together. 3Quarters is an annual showcase of the works produced by our Year 3 and 4 students. From ceramics, sculpture and mixed media to painting, drawing and printmaking, this exhibition captures the imagination and creativity of our students at a chrysalis stage where their emerging identities as young artists take form. Each artwork offers a unique insight to each student's lived experience as they attempt to connect with the audience while drawing from their own perspectives, memories and identity as a young person creating art in Singapore today.
