Wang Yizhen graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a bachelor degree with honours in Geography. While at NUS, she also studied under the prestigious University Scholars Programme. Yizhen went on to complete her Postgraduate Diploma in Education with the National Institute of Education (NIE) and a master’s degree in Southeast Asian Studies with NUS.
Prior to joining SOTA, Yizhen taught Geography and Social Studies at secondary school level. She also trains students for subject-based competitions and mentors them for interdisciplinary research projects. She has also undergone International Baccalaureate’s specialised training in teaching Geography and in guiding students for their Extended Essays.
As a flautist, Yizhen has performed with the NUS Symphony Orchestra, the NIE Symphonic Band and for chamber performances. She participated in the Aberdeen Youth Festival in Scotland and a music exchange to Guangzhou and Hong Kong in 2005.
