Teacher
Eric Lau has a Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Philosophy from the National University of Singapore. He taught at Raffles Girls’ School (Secondary) and was instrumental in crafting the Raffles Philosophy Course. At NUS High School of Mathematics and Science, he was tasked to design and coordinate several modules, including one on Knowledge and Inquiry.
Eric has also published a textbook on Knowledge and Inquiry, and was invited by the National Institute of Education (NIE) to give talks to NIE trainee teachers and foreign delegates, and to contribute to publications like Philosophical Reflections for Educators and Engaging Films and Music Videos in Critical Thinking.
Apart from these, Eric has been appointed as a TOK examiner by the International Baccalaureate (IB) since 2017 and has been assessing the TOK essay and the TOK exhibition. In 2022, Eric was also invited by IB to be part of the team to review the Reflective Project syllabus (a core component of the IB Career-Related Programme), in preparation for the new syllabus, to be launched in 2025.
