Graduated with bachelor’s degree (Upper Second-class Honours) from Singapore Nanyang Technological University’s Bachelor of Arts programme, Ng Wen Jie specialised in Art and Geography and holds a diploma in education. Over the past decade, she has honed her skills as a teacher and art coordinator, with proficiency in the GCE O-, N-, and A-Level syllabuses, and the International Baccalaureate. Her experience includes achieving high distinction rates and surpassing national averages, highlighting her dedication to student success. She strives to ignite a passion for the arts in her students, encouraging them to become future leaders and patrons of the arts.
In her personal practice, Wen Jie excels in various media, particularly installation and interactive art, and has incorporated technology into her art-making process. As a teacher artist, she exhibited in the Singapore Art Show at Singapore Art Museum in 2010 and was selected as one of the finalists for the Artist Residency Award. In 2016, she exhibited at the Soul Searching Art Show at Chinatown and was featured in The Straits Times as one of the outstanding youth artists. She also clinched the top prize in the CDL Sculpture Award in 2019 and unveiled a commissioned sculpture at Wisma Geylang Serai in 2022. In 2023, she exhibited at the Matters at the Yard art exhibition curated by Dr Vincent Leow.
As a past volunteer docent at the Singapore National Gallery, Wen Jie stays updated on contemporary art and visual literacy. She believes in differentiated instruction, engaging students of all abilities, and continuously refining her teaching methods. Her commitment to education and the arts is reflected in her teaching philosophy and her ongoing efforts to develop innovative curriculum, aiming to inspire and nurture the next generation of artists.
