Winnie Gwee

Winnie Gwee holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from the National University of Singapore and a Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education. Her passion for teaching Mathematics led her to earn a Master of Education in 2009 and a Doctorate of Education in 2013 from the University of Western Australia.

She began teaching Mathematics at Dunearn Secondary School (2003-2004) and joined Hwa Chong Institution in 2005, becoming Principal Consultant (Mathematics) in 2013. Winnie is trained in School Based Gifted Education and has taught Math Olympiad and Research Skills. She has a keen interest in research, mentoring students in award-winning projects at the Singapore Science and Engineering Festival and the Singapore Mathematics Projects Festival. Winnie has written articles on various mathematical topics and presented at local and international conferences. She has also conducted workshops for teachers and students on mentoring and Mathematics.

Winnie has a musical background, playing percussion in a concert band and the piano, with an interest in bossa nova and jazz. She enjoys linking mathematics and music, exploring concepts such as fractions in beats and trigonometric functions in soundwaves. Winnie sees mathematics as an art form and strives to inspire students to appreciate it similarly.
