Goh Meei Yunn

A music graduate from King’s College, University of London, Goh Meei Yunn began her educational journey teaching GCE O-Level Music to secondary school students under the Music Elective Programme at Dunman High School and Raffles Institution, where she also served as Head of the Aesthetics Department.  This was followed by a short stint at the Educational Leadership Development Centre in MOE HQ, before taking on school leadership roles in three primary schools.

Meei Yunn’s educational philosophy centres on the belief that learning becomes most meaningful and engaging when it is truly student-centred—where the student is at the heart of the connection between teacher and content. This “Golden Triangle” flourishes when teachers develop deep understanding of their students, design relevant and purposeful content, and create authentic opportunities for students to take ownership, make informed choices, and actively construct their own learning experiences.

The foundational values of discipline, passion and rigour, cultivated through years of dedicated music practice and mastery, have profoundly shaped Meei Yunn’s character and leadership approach. She holds a deep conviction that the arts serve as a mirror to our lived experiences, offering a window into human emotions and the human spirit whilst fostering empathy and inclusivity, as well as the agency to act.  This lies at the very heart of what an education at SOTA represents.
