Lam Lai Sheon

Lam Lai Sheon holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in English Literature from the National University of Singapore, a Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education and a Masters degree in Counselling from Monash University, Australia.

A seasoned educator with several years of experience spanning both local and international educational institutions, Lai Sheon’s subject expertise includes IB English Language & Literature, Theory of Knowledge, as well as GCE A-Level General Paper and English Literature. She has also held various leadership roles, including Head of English at Tampines Junior College, Head of IB English, and Head of Academic Counselling at Hwa Chong International School. In these capacities, she has led curriculum reviews, cross-disciplinary initiatives, and the calibration of assessment practices, while mentoring diverse student cohorts towards value-add learning outcomes.

Lai Sheon’s professional experience extends beyond the classroom to include corporate communications and speechwriting roles for senior leadership at Singapore Management University. These roles have honed her expertise in working with the media, as well as in adapting writing styles and content for varied audiences and contexts. This experience also informs her teaching of writing and rhetoric, grounded in the belief that students should be trained to think critically, engage with multiple perspectives, and articulate their ideas with clarity and confidence. Additionally, Lai Sheon’s experiences in counselling young people, couples and families underpins her holistic, relationship-centred approach to education. She is deeply committed to supporting students’ academic and personal growth, and seeks to help them realise their aspirations through authentic connections and thoughtful guidance.
