Ong Li Bing

Ong Li Bing graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Bachelor of Science (First Class Honours) in Chemistry and a minor in Life Sciences. She also completed the Special Programme in Science. She subsequently obtained her Postgraduate Diploma in Education from the National Institute of Education, specialising in teaching Chemistry at the junior college and secondary levels.

A MOE Teaching Scholar, Li Bing has extensive classroom experience teaching chemistry in the GCE O-Level, Integrated Programme, and GCE A-Level (H1 and H2) syllabuses. Her teaching practice is grounded in inquiry-based learning and the application of scientific concepts to real-world contexts.

Beyond the classroom, Li Bing has held key leadership roles in student development. At Victoria School, she served as Subject Head for Education and Career Guidance and Talent Development, leading school-wide efforts in career education, talent identification, and scholarship mentorship. At Victoria Junior College, she was Subject Head for student wellbeing, where she initiated a college-wide mental wellness awareness week and pioneered initiatives to enhance student engagement and student voice.

Li Bing served as Senior Head (Policy) at MOE’s Higher Education Division, where she worked on higher education policy and sector development. Her work included supporting the establishment of the Singapore Institute of Technology as an autonomous university, engaging multiple government agencies on campus development, and ensuring that new academic programmes were aligned with industry needs and national manpower demands.

Li Bing was actively involved in the performing arts across different stages of her education. She played the erhu in the chinese orchestra during her primary school years, percussion in the military band in secondary school, and the harmonica during her junior college years.

Deeply committed to holistic education and inclusive practices, she is passionate about nurturing scientific curiosity while caring for students’ well-being, and believes in empowering learners to grow with confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of purpose.
