Wai-Peng graduated from the National University of Singapore (NUS) with a Bachelor of Arts with Merit, majoring in Economics and English Language in 2001, and a Bachelor of Social Sciences with Honours in 2002. She went on to obtain a Diploma in Education with Merit from the National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore in 2004. She has also undergone International Baccalaureate's specialised training in teaching Economics and Approaches to Learning.
Wai-Peng began her teaching career in 2004 as an Economics teacher at Millennia Institute. She initiated and organised overseas Economics enrichment trips for her students to Shanghai and Beijing in 2007 and 2008 respectively. In 2006, she was awarded the Caring Teacher Award. She was appointed Subject Head for Pastoral Care and Career Guidance in 2008 where she was key in developing the Character Education curriculum that clinched the Development Character Award in 2009.
Wai-Peng has always been passionate about the arts. Having learnt piano at a young age and been an active member of the symphonic band in her school days, Wai-Peng had participated and performed in overseas exchange programmes in Japan, South Korea and the United States. She aims to arouse students’ interest in the learning of Economics through making connections to the arts.
