Arunan Amurthalingam read his Bachelor of Arts degree (Honours) in English Literature and Theatre Studies at Royal Holloway, University of London. Subsequently, he completed his Master’s in English Literature, specialising in Shakespeare Studies in 2012.

Professionally, he has undergone International Baccalaureate's specialised training in teaching Language & Literature, Literature & Performance and the Extended Essay. As an IB teaching practitioner who has taught GCE A’ Level, IGCSE and IBDP English language and Literature over the last 10 years. Through the course of his work, he has taught in high schools in Singapore, Indonesia and Thailand.

Arunan has specialised knowledge of the literary arts, especially the Shakespeare canon and English Renaissance theatre. He has a strong understanding of their cultural and historical contexts and this guides his approach towards teaching literature in an exciting, robust and dynamic manner.

As a Literature teacher, he is passionate about discovering new ways Literature can be employed to help students become global citizens of the world, develop empathy, and conviction.

Arunan aspires to walk into any teaching space not merely as a teacher; but as an educator, believer and motivator.
