Faculty of Mathematics
Yihui graduated with a Bachelor in Engineering (Mechanical) with Honours from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore and went on to pursue a Postgraduate Diploma in Education (Mathematics and English) at National Institute of Education (NIE), Singapore. To widen her perspectives and broaden her horizons, Yihui subsequently pursued her Masters in International Communication at National Cheng Chi University, Taipei, Taiwan. She has also undergone International Baccalaureate’s specialised training in teaching Mathematics and in guiding students for their Creativity, Activity, Service projects.
Yihui began her career in education at Pioneer Junior College, where she was a tutor and lecturer of H1 and H2 Mathematics. She later assumed the position of Acting Subject Head of Partnerships and Affective Development, where she was involved in the planning of Assembly and Civics Programme and in establishing collaborations with external stakeholders to offer a more holistic education for the students. Yihui was also in-charge of the Student Council in Pioneer Junior College and was involved in the structuring process of the Students’ Leadership Programme.
Yihui played in the Chinese Orchestra during her school days and appreciates various art forms. She believes that the beauty of Mathematics permeates the daily lives and hopes to draw connections between Mathematics and the Arts for her students in SOTA.
