SOTA’s International Baccalaureate Career-related Programme (IBCP) is a specialised and prestigious pathway that combines rigorous academic study with specialised arts training. The programme focuses on developing artistic excellence in our students and creating a comprehensive educational experience that prepares them for careers in the creative industries.
IBCP students are well-positioned to pursue higher degrees at local or international arts institutes and conservatories. The programme hopes to cultivate students to become skilled practitioners in their chosen art forms and leaders in the arts and cultural sectors. As advocates and ambassadors of the arts, IBCP graduates will help to shape Singapore’s future arts landscape, encourage innovation and growth, and foster unity and connection through the arts.
Who is the programme for?
The IBCP is designed for Year 5 and 6 students who demonstrate exceptional artistic aptitude, a strong aspiration, and a clear commitment to developing their craft in Dance, Music, Theatre, or Visual Arts. Students who are keen to undertake the IBCP should possess a humble and resilient learning attitude, strong discipline and motivation in their own learning, and a determination to pursue higher education at arts colleges, conservatories, or arts programmes in universities.
Outcomes
SOTA’s IBCP is recognised by prestigious arts institutes, conservatories, and universities locally and internationally. We have established formal agreements with leading arts institutions worldwide to facilitate pathways for our graduates. Graduates emerge as skilled practitioners ready to contribute to the creative economy and make meaningful contributions to arts and culture in Singapore and beyond.
We envision our IBCP graduates to be:

Our IBCP alumni have gone on to become skilled practitioners in their chosen art form or to continue their education at the postgraduate level, pursuing specialised master’s degrees and advanced training at world-leading institutions.
IBCP Framework and Curriculum
The IBCP combines rigorous academic study with specialised arts training, creating a comprehensive educational experience that prepares students for their careers in the creative industries.
The IBCP curriculum structure consists of a three-part framework that comprises:
- The CP Core, which includes
- Subjects from the IB Diploma Programme, typically
- One Arts subject (Group 6) at Higher Level
- *One Language Acquisition subject (Group 2) at Standard Level
- One optional Individuals and Societies subject (Group 3) at Standard Level
* If the student is exempted from Mother Tongue, a Group 3 subject must be offered.
- Three to four Career-related Studies (CRS) modules within Dance, Music, Theatre, or Visual Arts
Career-related Studies
Career-related Studies (CRS) is a unique component of the IBCP through which students deepen their artistic knowledge and skills in preparation for admission to arts institutes and conservatories. Under the close supervision of their respective arts faculties, students will be required to complete the CRS requirements in part to prepare a portfolio for their application. SOTA’s CRS is entirely designed and assessed by its arts faculties.
