SOTA

Dance IBCP

The Dance CP offers intensive, pre-professional training that prepares students for auditions and careers in dance companies, schools, and creative industries worldwide.

The programme is shaped by customised guidance and mentoring, and differs slightly for each student. Students also participate in a variety of activities, from body conditioning sessions to masterclasses, workshops, and industry attachments. The activities are customised to enhance students’ learning and provide them with exposure to a range of experiences aligned with their future aspirations.

Ballet Technique

Students undergo rigorous ballet training to develop physical control, refinement, stamina, and artistry. Through this module, students will build a profound understanding of their bodies and their movement potential through the elements of ballet vocabulary, in order to express and communicate through dance.

Contemporary Dance Technique

This module seeks to develop artistry and individuality through contemporary dance practices and improvisation, fostering creativity and spontaneous expression. Students will deepen their understanding of proprioception and kinesthetic awareness as they build physical strength, stamina, and coordination.

Repertoire and Performance

Students develop performance and creativity through working with established choreographers for SOTA’s annual Rapport dance showcase in the first semester, and collaborating with peers across various art forms to create original works for studio showing in the second semester.

Alumni Stories

“Through the IBCP, we were given many opportunities and guidance to figure out our goals and how to achieve them as a dancer. We had ample space and time to build on our ballet and contemporary technique and dance artistry. What I loved the most was the close mentorship we had with all our dance teachers. On top of emotional encouragement, they also gave us guidance on how to build our dance portfolio.

The programme immersed me into the vocational aspect of dance and gave me tools to adapt physically — such as the long hours in the studio — and mentally to embrace all the ups and downs of any artistic career.”
