Sowmya Iyer had a particle-arly exciting summer this year! Currently pursuing Aerospace Engineering at NTU and under the CN Yang Scholars Programme, the SOTA Class of 2016 alumna went on an overseas summer learning trip to CERN, the European Organisation for Nuclear Research, in Geneva, Switzerland.

Besides visiting The Globe of Science and Innovation (an iconic landmark at CERN), Sowmya made cloud chambers, and got to see the labs for the Large Hadron Collider. She shared her trip in detail on SOTA Alumni's Instagram account, describing the different kinds of physics and technology she learnt about and experienced. Exuding much excitement, she ended off by remarking, "The future really is now, and maybe someday we will know how the Big Bang really happened!
