Our Literary Arts faculty clinched several awards at this year's National Poetry Competition. Organised by Poetry Festival Singapore, the competition revolved around the theme "Community".

Featuring ten established and emerging artists, including our Visual Arts faculty member Mr Jason Lim and alumna Tan Shao Qi (2018), the 'Playing with Paper: Intimacies & Possibilities' exhibition explored how the participating artists portray profound intimacies and vast possibilities on paper.

The Singapore International Festival of Arts series, "Unboxing New Music", features Class of 2014 Music alumna Koh Cheng Jin and faculty member Ms Carolin Ralser.

It was just after the Circuit Breaker that Mr Ramu Thiruyanam had his first music performance for “Jazz in July”, an annual event organised by the Esplanade. While playing music was second nature to him, the rest of the evening was filled with many firsts.

The current COVID-19 pandemic has made a huge impact on arts education. Our Principal, Mrs Mary Seah, and Intercultural Theatre Institute Director, Mr T. Sasitharan, shared how COVID-19 is changing arts education in the Esplanade Offstage's podcast series, "Making a Scene".

Music faculty member Ramu Thiruyanam and adjuncts Eugene Toh, Joachim Lim and Tan Lee Ying performed "I Am Fluent In Silence", written by Singaporean composer Madeleine Tan.

Congratulations to Film faculty member Mr Alex Toh on his award-winning short film, "A New Start"! The film has garnered international film communities’ attention and recognition for its production quality and creativity.

Music alumna Brenda Koh, faculty member Cheryl Lim, and adjunct Gabriel Lee performed at Red Dot Baroque's concert, "Bach Beats Corona" in September this year. The concert celebrates J.S. Bach's music, known and celebrated for its spiritual and cleansing nature.

As part of a Teachers' Day feature on former students who were inspired by their teachers to join the teaching fraternity, Seithi Mediacorp interviewed SOTA Music faculty member Mr Ramu Thiruyanam and Class of 2016 Music alumnus Pavethren s/o Kanagarethinam.
