Class of 2018 Dance alumna Allison Tan was one of the SAF Officer Cadet School cadets commissioned in December 2019. As the top Navy graduand, she received the Sword of Honour from President Halimah Yacob during the commissioning parade! "Being an officer, there's no difference apart from the fact that your responsibilities are real now... You're still expected to strive for the best... to keep learning, to maintain that sense of strong moral character. Receiving the Sword of Honour is a reminder that I still have a very long way to go," said Allison.

Allison also shared that she was drawn to the Navy as she was "looking for something that had the capacity of giving back to the community", and was also attracted to the camaraderie found amongst Naval officers which she felt were similar to the bonds forged amongst dancers.
