Mr Chris Yeo wins at Locarno Festival and Singapore International Film Festival

We are proud to share that Film faculty member Mr Chris Yeo snagged the Golden Leopard award for his film A Land Imagined at the 71st edition of the Locarno Festival in Switzerland earlier in August and the Best Film award at the Singapore International Film Festival (SIFF) in December this year. It was the first Singapore film to win in the feature film category in SIFF.

A Land Imagined is a film about a police investigator who sets out to find the truth behind the disappearance of a Chinese construction worker at a land reclamation site in Singapore. The film moves between the virtual world and reality.

His debut feature film in 2009, In The House Of Straw, was also lauded by critics as a significant film of the Singapore New Wave. He is one of the founding members of the 13 Little Pictures film collective, and has written and directed numerous short films and documentaries. What an inspiration to all of us at SOTA!

The Locarno Festival uploaded a video interview of Mr Yeo onto their YouTube channel, which is viewable below.
