As part of Singapore Repertory Theatre (SRT)'s The Coronalogues series, SOTA Theatre faculty member Ms Michelle Tan tapped into her experience as an artist-educator to write the monologue, Miss Aruna Nair Teaches Plato’s Cave via Home-Based Learning in the Pandemic of 2020. Based around the theme “Silver Linings”, each 4-6 minute monologue in the series looks at the optimistic, the bittersweet, and the touching side of life in the shadow of the coronavirus. Ms Tan's monologue presents the perspective of a teacher conducting her first Literature class online for 15-year-old students. Performed online by SRT on 26 May 2020, The Coronalogues reminds us of the silver linings that we may find in these unusual and often frightening times. Find out more HERE.
