SOTA Debates team clinches second place

Published on Jul 31, 2019

The SOTA Debates team clinched second place in the Singapore Secondary Schools Debating Championships 2019! In the grand final, the SOTA Debates team was up against St Margaret's Secondary School, to oppose the motion "This House believes that the History curriculum taught in schools should not be designed to promote national pride".

We are proud that the team, comprising Angelica Teo, Megan Sim, Rachel Smitha Pary, Rebekah Chia, and Shauna Joy Gul, did their best and came in second overall! Shauna was also named as one of the top 20 best speakers in the competition. We are grateful for the SOTA students and parents who specially took time to support the team at the grand final, as well as teachers-in-charge Mr Arunan Amurthalingam and Ms Catalina Rembuyan for their guidance.
