Borderless Learning Units (BLU) 2018 - BLU I

Our students started the year on a high note through the engaging activities lined up for them as part of the Borderless Learning Units (BLU) programme. BLU is an annual feature at SOTA, broken into segments throughout the year, where students take part in learning activities and bond with their peers or seniors.  The activities also helped to develop the desired character traits and dispositions of a SOTA IB Learner in the students.

Below are some of the activities that were conducted at the first edition of BLU in 2018.

Level Bonding (Year 1)

Through bonding activities such as "HIPP Dance", "Scavenger Hunt" and "Humble Beginnings", Year 1 students are inducted into SOTA, and forged meaningful connections with their new peers as well as their Year 3 Orientation Group Leaders.

Kayaking & Arts Trail (Year 2)

Year 2 students went through a kayaking course that required them to push themselves beyond their comfort zones. They also went on a trail in the arts and heritage district, during which they were introduced to the works of art that traced Singapore's progress and development since independence.

Cycling Trail and Museum Visit (Year 3)

Year 3 students were taught safe cycling skills and techniques during a cycling trail at Gardens By The Bay. The students also went on curated tours at Asian Civilisations Museum and National Gallery Singapore to foster understanding of Southeast Asian heritage, arts and culture.

"Who and what we are?" (Year 5 and 6)

Year 5 and 6 students created banners with heartwarming pictures, words or quotes that their respective classes had chosen to unpack learner profiles and IB attitudes. These banners were subsequently displayed along the corridors of the school as useful reminders for the students throughout the year.
