Sota writes a new chapter with literary arts

The first batch of 20 students for SOTA's new art form, Literary Arts, has been selected, and will commence school next year. The Literary Arts programme will expose students to a variety of writing genres, and focus on writing original works such as poetry, prose and plays. This will differ from Literature, a compulsory subject for students at SOTA that focuses on analysing texts by other authors. The programme will be led by writer and former General Paper teacher, Mr Ivan Ang, and supported by current SOTA Literature subject head Mr Laremy Lee and Theory of Knowledge teacher and local writer Mr Colin Cheong. Ms Amy Khoo, Vice-Principal (Arts), said that it was the "right time" to include Literary Arts as an option for students as SOTA has developed the other art forms. Ms Khoo also stated that regardless of the students' future career, the school believes that Literary Arts will "enrich" students, and that the focus is "building on their talents and helping them see things from a different lens".
